 Region II-6A Wrestling Championships Results!

11 Yellowjackets qualified for the UIL State Wrestling Championships, setting a new school record for most state qualifiers in program history. Two additional athletes earned spots as state alternates, bringing the total number of Rockwall wrestlers headed to the state tournament to 13. 

Regional champions: Avery Fitzgerald, Dominic Wilson, and Jackson Stoner

Regional Runners-Up: Madison Fitzgerald, Leona Layne, Hunter Gordon, Timmy Fitzgerald, and Jai’Christian Washington

Congrats, Jackets! Good luck at state.

Walk the Line

This past Saturday, Walk the Line, Sting and seven other Texas a cappella groups competed in the ICHSA Quarterfinal at the RHS PAC.

The night ended with major celebrations for RHS as Walk the Line earned 1st place, standing out among a highly competitive lineup of talented performers from across the state. In addition to the group’s top finish, individual members also brought home top honors. Dylan Decker was named Outstanding Soloist, and Diego de la Torre received Outstanding Vocal Percussionist, recognizing their exceptional musical performances.

With this win, Walk the Line advances to the ICHSA Semifinals on March 14 at Marcus High School. The semifinal champion will secure a spot at the national finals in New York City.

Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to the RHS Teacher of the Year, Nichelle Wallace! She is an outstanding educator who exemplifies excellence in teaching at Rockwall High School. She consistently uses proven instructional strategies that actively engage students and support meaningful learning. Her classroom environment is welcoming, structured, and motivating, allowing students to feel confident and successful. Ms. Wallace connects easily with students, colleagues, and families, making her a respected leader on campus. Her positive attitude and great personality make her a natural role model for both students and staff. RHS Is lucky to have her!

AcDec Success!

Rockwall High School’s Academic Decathlon team is headed to the state competition after a strong performance at the Regional AcDec meet last Friday. The team earned a spot at the State Meet in San Antonio and brought home an impressive list of individual honors along the way.

Every team member placed in the top five of at least one subject area in their division, showing just how deep the talent runs across this group.

Individual Honors:

  • Braeden Angelo – 5th place in Math and Science

  • Audrey Ledbetter – 5th place in Literature

  • Rachel Hartger – 5th place in Literature

  • Lola Cook – 4th place in Music

  • Carleigh Hallford – 1st in Literature, 3rd in Art, 4th in Math, Music, and Social Science, 5th in Economics, and 4th Overall

  • Cole Barnes – 3rd in Math and Social Science, 4th in Science, 5th in Literature, and 5th Overall

  • Micah Sadler – 3rd in Economics, Social Science, and Essay, and 4th Overall

  • Maddy Petty – 5th in Math, Art, and Social Science

  • Mason Cocca – 3rd in Math and Science, 5th in Literature, and 6th Overall, just narrowly missing the top five

From math and science to literature, art, music, and essay writing, Rockwall students proved their strength across the full range of Academic Decathlon events. Their hard work, preparation, and commitment paid off in a big way, and now they’ll take that momentum to San Antonio to compete against the best teams in the state.

Rockwall is proud of this outstanding group and excited to see what they accomplish at State.

Rock Nine Students Celebrate Greek Culture from The Odyssey

At the conclusion of their Odyssey unit in Honors English classes at Rock Nine, students participated in a culminating project centered on xenia, the Greek concept of hospitality.
